All-natural skincare products at the farmers market

Vegan Skincare at the Market

I needed to get the buzz out about my new skincare line, Glycelene.  I wanted to go to a place where people were interested in healthy, organic and handcrafted items. So I thought, why not become a vendor at The Farmers Market! Great idea, right?  Well, it wasn’t as easy to become a vendor as you would think.  There are loads of regulations, prerequisites and even a waiting list, depending on the city.  Not all of them do crafts either, but after many applications and phone calls, I was finally able to get into the Farmers Market & Craft Fair in Dana Point on a Saturday morning.  I was so exited! After weeks of getting ready and figuring out inventory, I had my first craft fair.  It turned out better than I could have ever expected.  So many people came up to my booth to find out about our all natural, organic and vegan skincare, my nice display of Professional Vegan Makeup Brushes, and my non-toxic brush cleaner that I sell.

Now that I’ve been at it one whole month, I’m seeing repeat customers coming back for more. The greatest part is that Glycelene’s new customers have been recommending our products to their friends and now I have a really nice following. It’s been so much fun! I’ve decided to take my show on the road and venture into different cities. I spent a Sunday in Long Beach, which had a lot of foot traffic, but felt more like a swap meet then a farmers market. I then moved on to Lido Isle in Newport Beach on Sundays which has been really nice. It was not overly crowded, which can be good for some people, but not so good for others. I prefer the exclusivity, because it gives my chemist Eric and I a chance to answer questions, educate and spend more time with the customer. Glycelene has become such a hit, we’re taking our products up to LA on Wednesdays to sell at the Playa Vista FM.

People say ‘don’t quit your day job’ for a chance at a vendor position selling products you’re passionate about, but I DID quit my weekend job doing makeup at NBC studios for the last decade.  It was something I didn’t want to do since I worked with all my friends and the stability was comforting, but I believe in Glycelene so much, I needed to do it to take my skincare line to next level. Fingers crossed!
